Lessons
Mr. Pate currently offers private lessons in Stony Brook, New York. All levels are currently being accepted.Mr. Pate offers preparation study for the NYSSMA All-State audition in drum set, Marimba, Timpani, Percussion, as well as Piano and Composition. Students study standard & contemporary percussion techniques through a variety of solo repertoire, etudes, chamber music and orchestral literature.
Individual curriculum is determined by an evaluation of the student's experience, ability and goals. but students are encouraged to discover their potential through consistent training, listening to concerts & recordings as well as through their peers.
Students receive expert guidance for auditions and competitions at both high school and college levels. Advanced adult students may negotiate lesson packages to suit their professional needs and goals.
In addition to lessons, master classes are offered 2 times per academic year and a recital once per year. Students are also encouraged to participate in their school music program or another regular performing ensemble.
